Dedham Housing Applicants

Dedham Housing Authority administers state public housing and Section 8 Housing Choice Voucher programs for low-income family, elderly and disabled households.  The CHAMP-State public housing application can be accessed here: CHAMP

Public Housing

Public housing aims to provide safe and comfortable rental housing for eligible low-income families, the elderly, and persons with disabilities. Public housing includes apartments owned and managed by public housing authorities. Essentially, public housing is low-rent housing for eligible families, the elderly, and people with disabilities who meet the income guidelines and eligibility qualifications.

There are two types of public housing programs available to low-income households looking for federally or state subsidized housing assistance:

Elderly/Disabled Public Housing - the DHA oversees 4 elderly/disabled developments

  • The DHA manges three state developments for elderly/disabled residents: Parkway Court (25 units), Doggett Circle (80 units) and O'Neil Drive (100 units).
  • The Hitchins Drive building provides family unit housing for 8 clients of Department of Mental Health..

Family Public Housing - the DHA oversees two family developments

  • The DHA manages two state developments: Veterans Road (78 units) and Parker Staples Road (26 units).

How to Apply for Public Housing

You can come into the DHA office during business hours or apply online at:  www.publichousingapplication.ocd.state.ma.us or google CHAMP Wait List.   You can also update your applications and priorities by logging into the CHAMP website. 

Section 8 Housing Choice Voucher Program (Leased Housing)

The Dedham Housing Authority administers the Section 8 Housing Choice Voucher Program for Belmont HA, Billerica HA, Dedham HA, Holbrook HA, Millis HA, Oxford HA,Warren HA, Webster HA,  Wellesley HA and North Attleborough HA which provides housing assistance to low-income households.  Participants in this program rent private apartments in the community and receive financial assistance from HUD's HCV program to pay a portion of the rent.  The participant usually pays 30-40% of their monthly income towards the rent.  They may have to pay for some utilities.
